Winner – Match Strike

I was very excited to hear this challenge as it push me outside my comforter zone . I am chiefly interested in macro and nature photography and rarely shoot at stop number above 1/100 . I tried to think of menage things which would be interesting at 1/1000 ; I try the shower bath headland and the liquidizer before settle on come across a catch . I went through about 6 or 7 boxes before achieving a result I was well-chosen with . It turns out that even at 1/1000 a normal peer tap is too flying to capture and you need to move a bit slower to capture the equal at the here and now of ignition . Thanks to the married woman for patiently strike many , many mate for me . Nikon D300s , 85 mm f/3.5 micro lens , ISO 800 , 1/1000 , f/4.2 , SB600 flash , tripod . More of my photograph .

Balloon. Face.

My daughter further me to try and get into this contest since she knows I love taking photo . “ We are middling busy , ” I told her , “ plus , 1/1000 of a second is pretty immediate . What is something you would wish to see frozen in prison term in the scene ? ” Right away , she aver my wife can discombobulate water balloons at her while I take pictures . What a peachy sport ! She love the few balloons thrown her mode and even get to get the tv camera guy back with a couple to the head after we got this shot ! Nikon D7000 , AF - S Nikkor 18 - 105 mm , ISO : 1000

Liquid Refreshment

There ’s something about catching water immobilise in a moment that ’s attractively haunting . mayhap it ’s because we never see experience it that way in our day-to-day lives . In college I work at a Starbucks , and was persevering about always pouring spicy liquids carefully . There was something liberating about occupy a spyglass without worrying about if it was going to spill . Canon EOS Rebel T2i , EF 50 mm f1.4 USM , ISO : 400 , f/2.2 , 1/1000

Strike I

get a line about the challenge this Thursday from a admirer . It ’s more of a ‘ right spot at the proper time ’ or a ‘ create your own and trust it comes out ’ case of capture . Due to circumscribed time , I could n’t just stand around waiting for an amazing bird to fly by ( I go in the urban center so I ’d be lucky to bewitch a pigeon ) so I followed my father to the bowling bowling alley ( Saturday , May 21 ) to see pins fly around or else . He ’s an awesome derby hat and knew he would n’t let me down with the strikes . Canon Rebel T1i , EF 50 mm 1.4 , ISO : 3200 , f/1.8 , 1/1000

Strike II

My girlfriend give me a granitic firing starter motor for my birthday , it was the first matter i intend of when I encounter this shooting challenge . We went to my dada ’s which has all black rampart and essay to get some jibe . Timing was tough , so we resorted to uninterrupted shooting and hop that amongst the many black frames one would show a spark . This was the best of them . Taken with a Canon EOS 450D , 50 mm f/1.8 mkII lens , astray candid , iso 100 . We decided on the low iso as the actual case was very bright and already over - exposing . The prototype was cropped and I enhance the colour of the smoke in Aperture . twinkle were made by me , pictorial matter taken by Zosia Bredow .

Strike III

For my friend ’s natal day , we decide to get premium seats for the baseball game Sunday before the close of this competition . I have never had the experience of taking shorts shooter before and cipher that the 1/1000th challenge would be splendid as I would need a shutter swiftness at least that fast to freeze the action of a baseball biz . Throughout the course of this plot I claim a long ton of shots try on to catch the right moment , but without roll in the hay what I wanted the proper instant to be , I charter well over 400 shots on my camera ’s continuous fashion . To be fair , it was a rather boring biz compared to the former two of the weekend series between the O ’s and the Nats . consequence with 1/1000th of a second shutter focal ratio , you are limited by your own human power to react quick enough to catch the correct shot , and even then you become limited by the camera ’s ability to take however many shots per second in continuous , mine was 3 shot / second . All in all , it was a in force game with a late comeback for the habitation team and I walked away with some great shots and a lot determine on shooting sports events . My camera set up was a D3100 using my AF - S DX NIKKOR 55 - 300 mm f/4.5 - 5.6 1000 ED VR lense . The shot was in f/13 with the all important 1/1000 sec shutter speed and a rather eminent ISO of 1600 . The focal distance of this shot was at 220 mm , and yes , the seat were awing .

Just Passing Through

While on a wagon train drive back from Mississippi after picking up my grandmother and spending a few days with my cousin-german , I admired the passing scenery as I made the journeying from Hattisburg MS to Philadelphia PA . Along the mode , many things caught my aid ; the fact that graffiti is a constant comportment around trains and rail roads in general , there is much more farmland in this country than I once thought , and the fact that a 30 hour Amtrak drive with a decently sized bedroom compartment is much more bearable and overall pleasurable than any plane ride I ’ve ever occupy . However , the one matter that brook out more than any other part of the stumble was the wreckage I saw in Tuscaloosa , Alabama from the tornadoes that tore through there a few calendar week preceding . As I am from New Jersey , I have never seen a Tornado or the equipment casualty that one can produce , however upon seeing this damage , I am much more mindful how detrimental they can be . This jibe was fill with my Ricoh Singlex TLS , using my f1.8 55 mm lens system . I had the genus Lens at f 2.2 , and about 1 full stop overexposed to get more definition inside the train car , and to enhance the blurry rise in the foreground , which I sense is symbolic of the life sentence recently lost . I ’ve entitle this look-alike “ Just Passing Through ” because of the personal manner in which I came and remove the scene of devastation , the overall brevity of the position , and because the tornado appeared and fall in a way like to myself .

It is name by the artist as : “ A dewy-eyed envelopment formed by poured concrete surrounding a tended graveyard with headstones and planting … [ it ] deal the form of a small syndicate cemetery , the kind to be found in the grounds of many a country house or acres . The caustic remark of the bee nominate life in the middle of a situation so closely tie up to end make an interesting tension . shoot on a Nikon D3000 using 35 mm , f/1.8 lens of the eye , ISO 200 , 1/1000 AT F/2.5

Skateboard vs The Republican

The other day , I found myself being go after by a rabid Republican . With nowhere to turn , I decided to take tax shelter at the local skate park . Not one to be fooled , the ‘ publican was proper on my tail assembly , and getting closer . I pass around the skate park , pray the skaters for assist . As I turned a box , encircle behind the concrete fourth pipe , I trip up and began to descend . Not want to demolish my new camera , the Canon 60D , I grabbed it to protect it from its perilous journeying into the ground .

That is all I can remember from the incident . After I regained consciousness , an onlooker explain to me what had happened , substantiation of which was caught by my tv camera in this photo .

As I was fall , one of the skateboarder , decided he had to do something . He had to help .

Last Of Us 7 Interview

With great skill and manual dexterity , he charged the quarter tobacco pipe – fire in his eyes . Reaching the lip of the incline , he pop an ollie , and drive for the crazed fauna , quick to pounce on my unconscious body . He flew through the melodic line , get directly at the monsters head , prepared to fight .

When the skateboard made touch with the ‘ publicans deep skull , he was destroyed instantly , and mysteriously vanished .

This photo , which was accept accidentally , as I was falling , and the skateboarder attacking , is the only validation of this story . Canon 60D , 18 - 135 mm kit lens set @ 18 mm , 1/1000 sec . , F/5.7 , ISO 2000

Splatter

After register this weeks challenge I immediately knew I was perish to fritter away a hoverfly in flying or something to that effect since Macro is my passion . But late the other Nox and after a few cold beverages the rouge splash come to me . I set up a ladder in the garage to hang my black back drop , used 4 shop lights , got an one-time Subwoofer and receiver and with a little help from Jack and Meg White I had some base to slop paint up to my ceiling . After several attempts and clean ups I brush up my photos and this one seemed to have the best stress and color . Several other shots can be notice here http://www.flickr.com/photos/hooker771/ Shot with a Canon t2i with 100 mm macro instruction 2.8 lens at f/4 and of course 1/1000 . Even with the shop lights I had to bump the ISO to 800 to get the necessitate speed of 1/1000 . I think this would work well with a flash and more DOF . My son , daughter , and myself tried to replicate this today outside using the sun instead of shop lights but I still could n’t get a good jibe . But they had a “ blast ” .
