Yesterday was Towel Day , a day for celebrating the work of Hitchhiker ’s Guide to the Galaxy writer Douglas Adams . Italian astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti apparently agrees with Adams about the supreme utility of a towel , and establish how astronauts use them aboard the International Space Station .
In addition to show a video of herself reading from The Hitchiker ’s Guide to the Galaxy , Cristoforetti tweeted video of herself and other ISS astronauts using their towels :
A towel is massively useful on the Space Station . For instance , you may use it to work your Artium Baccalaurens on ARED … #TowelDaypic.twitter.com/9azylvjD9X

apply it to reclaim piss into the recycling system : squirt water into towel , hang towel to dry out near airing grid.pic.twitter.com/Upze6St6Av
Use it to show the quirks of water in weightlessness ( you have seen that video by@Cmdr_Hadfield , right?)#TowelDaypic.twitter.com / ibvKHnvY5e

Or use it to wiretap floating succus drops . If you lack them , use it to houseclean up the mess.#TowelDaypic.twitter.com / KEnem8D4nE
We ’re positive . If we ’re lucky enough to visit the ISS , we ’ll be sure to impart a towel .
