If British Airways does n’t watch their chairman ’s mouth , they might just see their planes turned around when trying to enter US territory . Ok , I joke , but if I ’m honest his views on the “ completely redundant ” airport checks sound completely reasonable .
Martin Broughton , the chair of the UK carrier , had a verbal meltdown at the UK Airport Operators Association in London , saying that US security dictates what the rest of the world should do , but quite often they do n’t even follow the regulation themselves .
Now , every airport I ’ve been to in the US in the last few years has requested I murder my laptop computer from my traveling bag and shoes from my feet , but Broughton is exact that “ America does not do internally a passel of the things they require that we do , ” and that really , the rules are “ completely redundant . ”

“ Take the iPad , they still have n’t decided if it is a laptop computer or it is n’t a laptop . So some airports think you should take it out and some think you should n’t ” Broughton added .
While I agree that a flock of the checks seem unnecessary , I still think they ’re worth doing . It does n’t add too much extra time to a journey , and quite frankly I ’d rather be secure than sorry . I think a mountain of us would . [ CNN ]
