Donna Kelceknows a thing or two about parenting.
Inan interview promoting her partnership with Barefoot Wines, theNFL mom, 71, shared that her sonJason, who turns 36 on Sunday, “thought he could raise the girls like boys,” speaking of her three granddaughtersWyatt, 4,Elliotte, 2, andBennett, 8 months.
Donna tells PEOPLE that Jason “doesn’t come to her for parenting advice.” Instead, she explains that Jason’s wifeKylieis “very involved” and “gives him tips because obviously she was [from] an all girls family.”
“He thought he could raise the girls like boys and then he figured out, no, it’s totally different,” says Donna. The mom of two boys explained that the the Philadelphia Eagles center and Super Bowl champ had to realize “it’s not like when he grew up”with brotherTravis Kelce, 34.

Donna said that Jason is “very gentle” with his girls, telling PEOPLE, “when he’s kind of roughhousing a little bit, they’ll say, ‘Stop, it’s too much,’ and he’s like, ‘Okay, girls.’ So he’s had to take a step back.”
During the interview with PEOPLE,Donna also opened up about son Travis’s love of his nieces.
Donna said that Travis, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end who has made global headlines this fall amidhis romance with Taylor Swift,“loves” being an uncle, before clarifying that “he loves kids, period.”
The NFL mom added that her younger son is “really a good uncle,” emphasizing that “he’s so good and animated.”

“He’s a kid himself,” she says of Travis. “He just feels like he’s one of them. I don’t think he’s ever going to grow up.”
“Wyatt asked if she could say hi,” Jason said before hoisting the 4-year-old onto his lap.
Travis gasped and said, “Look at you!” as Wyatt responded, “Hi Uncle Trav!”

“What’s up girly? How are you doing?” he asked. “How was gymnastics?”
“What are you wearing? Tell Uncle Trav what you’re wearing,” Jason said as Wyatt interjected, “a leotard!”
Travis also chatted with another one of his nieces, Elliotte, smiling wide as the toddler appeared on screen.
When he asked her how she was doing, the little girl couldn’t stop smiling. “You’re smiling big,” Travis said. “You’re making my day.”
