Weiss , saw Benioff monotone out state that the season seven and eight of Game of Thrones might be little than the 10 - sequence seasons the show has always had until now . In fact , the terminal two seasons might be just 13 episode total :

They continued that the seventh and eight season , presumably the concluding two for the show , would have seven and six episodes severally . Bear in idea , these plans are not absolutely final — HBO could push for more episodes in season seven and eight , or they could mix both season together into one mega concluding season .
